Dinosaur lovers of all ages, listen up! The Natural History Museum has partnered with the Park Plaza London Riverbank to launch the UK’s first prehistoric-themed family suite, setting an immersive dinosaur experience against a backdrop of the River Thames.
Guests at a riverside hotel can now slide back a hidden bookcase door to reveal a children’s bedroom dominated by a large wooden T-Rex skeleton model.
Museum experts collaborated on the room’s design to replicate the feel of a naturalist’s study. The primary bedroom features dark green walls, a classic desk, and bespoke shelving units. Display cases and glass-topped drawers invite guests to inspect curated collections, including large ammonite fossils, shark teeth, geological specimens, and butterflies.
Interactive trails and themed activities
Beyond the hidden door, the children’s quarters feature bunk beds built into the dinosaur skeleton model, framed by jungle-themed wallpaper and floor carpets patterned with giant three-toed footprints.
The stay includes interactive elements designed for younger guests, starting with a wax-sealed letter containing a story to decode. This initiates a dinosaur trail that takes young “palaeontologists in training” around the hotel property.
The suite is stocked with dinosaur-themed books, plush toys, and board games like a specialised Dino Connect 4. Housekeeping adds to the theme by folding bath towels into the shapes of long-necked dinosaurs, while room service options include a bento box of chocolate treats designed to look like a fossil excavation site.
The highly detailed collaboration between the hospitality brand and the museum comes at a high cost for visiting families. Stays in the new prehistoric suite start at £650 per night.
