The capital’s trusty transport network is set to face a number of planned closures this weekend due to various engineering works, track maintenance, and infrastructural upgrades. But fear not, folks – we’re here to clue you up on all of the closures taking place across London’s nifty network of tubes and trains over the next couple of days, so that you can plan your journeys accordingly, and still have a weekend filled with fun.
District Line closures
On Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, there will be no service between Edgware Road and Wimbledon on the District Line. Transport for London has confirmed that there will be rail replacement buses operating throughout the weekend. Passengers travelling to or from the Fulham vs Crystal palace match on Saturday have been advised that it may be easier to walk to/from Hammersmith.
Elizabeth Line closures
On Sunday, September 6, there will be no Elizabeth Line trains running between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am. After that, the entire line should be running as normal.
Windrush Line closures
On Saturday, September 5 and until 7.15pm on Sunday, September 6, there will be no service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction and Battersea Park on the Windrush Line. Replacement buses will be operating between Canada Water and Clapham Junction, passing through Surrey Quays, Queens Road Peckham, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Clapham High Street, and Wandsworth Road on route.
On Sunday, September 6, there will also be no Windrush Line serves between Sydenham and West Croydon until 7.15pm. After 7.15pm, there will be no service on the line between Highbury & Islington and Battersea Park, Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace, New Cross Gate, and West Croydon. Passengers can use local buses, the Mildmay Line, and Southern rail connections to complete their journeys.
Suffragette Line closures
The Windrush Line won’t be the only London Overground line affected by closures this weekend. There will be no Suffragette Line service between Gospel Oak and Woodgrange Park on Sunday, September 6 and a reduced service will be running between Woodgrange Park and Barking Riverside. Replacement buses will be operating, and passengers can also use the Victoria Line for connections between Seven Sisters, Blackhorse Road, and Walthamstow Central.
As always, you can keep an eye on TfL’s website to stay up to date with the upcoming closures, check your journey in advance, and find alternative routes where needed.
