Hands up… who’s new year’s resolution was to get fitter in 2017? And hands up… who stuck to it? For some of us, busy London life just gets in the way and the gym isn’t exactly the place we want to go straight after a hectic day. Here’s a little lowdown on some of the wonderful (and sometimes wacky) classes available in this big city.
1. Get down and shake it like Beyoncé in one of the sassiest dance classes in London.
No matter your level, Seen on Screen offers dance classes all about perfecting that routine you saw in your latest favourite music video. Classes range from Slay Sessions to Drake Medley’s so you’re bound to find something to unlock your inner diva.
Check out the class timetable here.
2. Prepare yourselves because dog yoga is, indeed, a thing.
Long gone are those “nobody’s in to look after the dog” excuses because Doga is the future. Centred around the spiritual companion between you and your dog, you’ll also get to meet fellow Yogi’s and Dogi’s whilst being able to let go and relax. Don’t worry, even if you don’t have a fluffy companion, the classes are open to Yogi’s who just want to be around adorable dogs for a couple of hours.
Classes available here.
3. Rave and party before work
Working out doesn’t always need to be so serious and the guys at Morning Glory are all about being fun and carefree. Not necessarily the most intense workout but we all know how sweaty a good dance session can get us. Plus there’s fresh smoothies, yoga classes and massages available – sign us up!
Check out their upcoming events here.
4. Take to the water and go to a FloatFit HIIT class
HIIT classes are some of the best as they’re quick but really get the blood pumping. This new class takes the concept and adds a pool and some waterboards to the mix! This fun new workout works the entire body, but if you’re a more relaxed type, they have FloatFit Yoga also.
More details here.
5. HulaFit
Who knew that hula hoops could be so beneficial? HulaFit focuses on having fun whilst also working that core and they claim that “even if you hate everything, no-one can hate hula hooping!”
Classes start from as little as £6 and booking details can be found here.
6. BoomCycle
A lot of the music in workout classes can be quite *dare we say it* cringey but at BoomCycle, these spinning classes are all about the fast paced music and dark rooms. With such a cult following, BoomCycle is quickly becoming a favourite with people of all fitness abilities.

7. Get jumping at a trampoline fitness class
Trampoline parks have been popping up all over the country but at Oxygen Free Jumping, their workouts are designed to focus on endurance, strength and tension. With classes for just £5, swap out the treadmill for some bouncy fun instead! They even do a Bear Grylls fitness class for the bravehearted.
More details here.
8. Channel your inner Madonna at Voga
For some of us, yoga just isn’t our thing and, with this in mind, Voga was born. A mix of the 80’s trend of voguing and yoga, this workout is intended to relieve stress whilst also filling that cardiovascular demand. Voga is all about getting toned whilst striking that covergirl pose and ultimately, enjoying exercise.

9. Yoga and Fitness Classes… FOR FREE
Not many people know but big fitness brands such as LuluLemon and Sweaty Betty regularly run complimentary fitness classes. No catch, no small print – you just need to book online and hey presto, a free class! LuluLemon focuses on yoga and running whilst Sweaty Betty offers an array of other classes such as Boxfit, Barre and pilates.

10. Always wanted to join the circus? Gorilla Trapeze classes could be for you!
The flying trapeze school at Gorilla Circus sounds a little crazy but it also sounds flipping marvellous for the more adventure driven individual. Classes are designed for all abilities to improve strength and fitness, but what’s even better is that lessons are scheduled outside in Regent’s Park during the summer months! There’s nothing like feeling the sun on your face whilst spinning through the air, am I right?

11. Disco Yoga
Think Downward Dogging to Diana Ross. The class starts with the option to ‘Glitter Up’ at a glitter station before you take your place on a Disco Yoga mat – no need to bring one. Blissful, energising sequences to a glorious mix of disco classics are said to ‘rejuvenate your mind, body, soul, reboot your body and take you to Boogie Wonderland.’ The classes take place every Tuesday at Trapeze Bar in Shoreditch, but keep your eyes peeled for their boozy (yes, boozy) disco yoga brunches, too.
