Paintings by the likes of Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Jeff Koons are up for sale in the world’s largest online art auction—and it’s all for a good cause.
Art&Co, founded by Bundeep Singh Rangar, has collected a total of £1.65 million worth of art, including works by Warhol, Picasso, Dali, and many other famous and lesser-known artists. Money raised from the auction, which ends on June 27 at 7pm, will go to six different charities that are fundraising for those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, either directly or indirectly (by illness, domestic violence, etc). These charities are ICU Steps, Khalsa Aid International, The Care Workers Charity, Painting Our World In Silver, Solace Women’s Aid and Za Teb.
There are over 200 pieces up for auction on the Art&Co website, ranging from £1,000 to £36,000. They cover themes of community, depression, environment, nature and many other poignant motifs that are relevant during these current trying times. Individuals and corporates are encouraged to participate and bid on these one-of-a-kind artworks, raising funds for frontline organisations. Some of the money will also go to the 33 freelance artists who have contributed their work to the cause, and have been unable to sell during the lockdown.
