If you’re a fan of photography then we have some exciting news for you! The World Press Photo Exhibition has returned to London after a seven-year hiatus, taking over Borough Yards throughout the spring. The renowned exhibit showcases some of the best photojournalism and documentary photography from around the world, connecting visitors to stories that matter.
The collection of photographs asks the viewer to leave the news cycle at the door and delve into important topics that are affecting people across the globe. Focusing on diverse storytelling to achieve a nurturing understanding of the issues and stories raised, witness the work of talented photographers who have captured emotionally-fuelled moments that transcend cultures and borders.
The exhibition is one-of-a-kind, with over 60,000 entries by 3,581 photographers, from 130 countries worldwide, and be sure to mark your calendars because it’s only in the capital for a limited time.
This year, the famed exhibit has chosen Borough Yards as its location, a beloved cultural destination at the epicentre of the city’s creative scene in London Bridge. Nestled underneath the gorgeous Victorian railway arches, gain some heartfelt inspiration from the work of groundbreaking photographers, presenting new-found and prominent perspectives from all over the world.
The World Press Photo Foundation was founded back in 1955, and has continued to grow each year. The exhibition travels to over 60 cities, in more than 40 countries worldwide, and it has finally made its grand return to London with its renowned selection of powerful photography.
The London Exhibition Director, Woody Anderson, commented “In the realm of visual storytelling, World Press Photo stands at the forefront of its art, beckoning its audience into the reality inhabited by the subjects in each image.”
“The exhibition not only sparks emotion, it also kindles a collective consciousness, whilst vividly illuminating the most paramount news stories of our time. The exhibition’s prolonged absence from the capital has been a significant omission from the city’s cultural calendar.”
Well, it’s finally back and we can’t wait to check it out! The World Press Photo Exhibition will be on display at Borough Yards, running from Friday 3rd May to Sunday 16th June 2024. You can find Borough Yards at Stoney St, London SE1 9AD. Click here or the link below to get your tickets.
