If you’ve already made the annual pilgrimage to London’s Christmas mecca, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, you may have noticed that the ice rink looks a little different this year. To be frank: it is pink. That’s right. The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland ice rink is pink. And I love it.
The good elves behind Hyde Park Winter Wonderland have a good reason for the pretty-in-pink rink. For 2024, they’ve partnered with the new London art museum, Moco Museum, renowned for their bold and vibrant take on modern and contemporary art. The 1,795-square-foot ice rink matches the museum’s signature pink exterior and logos, and is truly eye-catching against the wintery night sky.
The centrepiece of the collaboration is a Moco-branded Christmas tree, with candyfloss pink baubles, which adds a contemporary twist to classic Christmas decor. The ice rink will stay this candy colour until January 5, 2025, so you have a few weeks to go for a skate here yourself.
Who are Moco Museum?
Located a short walk from Hyde Park, right by Marble Arch station, you’ll find Moco Museum. This hub of modern and contemporary art (hence its name, mo-co) opened in the capital earlier this year, and is home to some of the genre’s most iconic works. You can expect to see pieces from the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Basquiat, Damien Hirst, KAWS, Banksy, Jeff Koons, and Yayoi Kusama. The three-storey museum also showcases pioneering digital artists, and temporary works from local artists.
The London location follows the success of its counterparts in Amsterdam and Barcelona, which have enticed over 5 million visitors worldwide, including Barack Obama, Steven Spielberg, Venus Williams, Adele, Tim Cook, Dua Lipa, and Idris Elba. Moco Museum London is the flagship venue.
