We may not know the muffin man who lives on Drury Lane, but we do know of an excellent cheesecake woman whose name is Alice Churchill. And she did indeed work on Drury Lane for a while, before relocating herself and the incredible cheesecakes of Whipped to Covent Garden’s Endell Street. Now, she’s bringing London’s finest cheesecakes to a new location, as Whipped will open a brand new café in Brixton Market on September 15.
Coming from a Michelin background, Alice has fourteen years of high-end patisserie experience. She started the Whipped adventure by hosting supper clubs at her London home in Kensington, where she’d serve up her famous soft-serve cheesecakes to friends, family, and eventually esteemed, paying guests.
Nowadays, the very same frozen ‘whipped’ cheesecakes are the star of the show, with options such as the Red Velvet with red velvet chunks, red velvet crumb, raspberry coulis and white chocolate sauce; or the Cookie Monster, which uses their signature vanilla cheesecake recipe topped with Biscoff crumb, caramel sauce, homemade honeycomb chunks and a slab of homemade cookie dough. They also do a line of special cheesecakes to celebrate the change of seasons, including a very delicious Mince Pie Cheesecake come Christmastime.

There’s also a range of baked cheesecakes, including the Blueberry Crumble with vanilla cheesecake, vanilla crumb, Swiss meringue and blueberry coulis, and the Oreo topped with brownies, Oreos and lashings of chocolate sauce. You can even build your own by choosing your cheesecake flavour, your biscuit base, your sauce, and any two toppings! Oh, and don’t think that all this cheesecake means you should skip their other dishes; the cheesecake brownies and their insane cheesecake-filled cookies aren’t to be missed. Seriously, look at these chonky bois:
Whipped departed their Drury Lane store just a few days before the coronavirus pandemic closed restaurants and cafes across the capital, and took some time off during the lockdown “to gather [their] thoughts and aim for bigger and better things”. Happily, that’s resulted in their return on Covent Garden’s Endell Street, and will continue with their foray into Brixton Market, bringing tasty treats to south London. That branch is set to open on September 15, and will feature outdoor dining in the covered market, and boast the usual dishes, along with milkshakes, sundaes, hot cookie dough pans, and monthly specials.
Besides the cheesecake, the cheesecake and the cheesecake, Whipped also serve fantastic coffee. Provided by Shotyard Coffee, based out near Twickenham, you can always rely on the team to provide an excellent caffeine fix. Because really, there’s no better combo than cheesecake and coffee!
