I don’t think it’s a dramatic statement to say that IT’S HOT AT THE MOMENT. To the point where temperatures of 28°C and 29°C feel like a relief! We’ve been doing our best to keep you cool throughout the heatwave. We’ve highlighted a very convenient Tube map that details every air-conditioned line across London’s public transport network. And we’ve rounded up our favourite spots to escape the heat. But it’s about to get even easier, thanks to a handy-dandy new air conditioning map.
Where’s Cool is a charming little tool that helps overheating Londoners answer one very important question: “Where’s cool?” (The name kind of gives it away doesn’t it…) It’s a handy little map that displays every single confirmed venue with air conditioning across the UK. It’s truly comprehensive – it even expands all the way to the Isles of Scilly!
The Where’s Cool air conditioning map
The map was created by “the data nerds at Sabot”. You can easily search it for your local area, or for where you’re planning to be, to find the nearest cool place to chill. You can also filter the map by venue type – pubs, cafes, restaurants, fast food establishments, bars, and others.
The air conditioning map also features an ‘AC-confirmed’ filter. Turn it on, and you’ll only be shown places that definitely have air conditioning. Turn it off, and you’ll basically be shown every venue in the country. A lot of public-facing venues will likely have cooling solutions of some sort, but perhaps not the fabled air conditioning.

Currently, across the UK, the map features 8,357 AC-confirmed venues. Turn off the filter, and the number balloons to a whopping 287,168 venues – with no promise of a chilling welcome.
The map is constantly evolving and growing. The original list of venues was compiled using the FSA Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, through which venues must register. This was then cross-referenced against Energy Performance Certificates – looking for evidence of ‘cooling’. This data was then enhanced by public votes and recommendations. And if you spot a missing venue on the map, you can add it yourself!
