What The Pitta serve up magical vegan kebabs in their Camden restaurant.
First they veganized the pizza, then they came for the freakshakes – now, the vegans have come for the greasy, end-of-the-night kebab, and I say “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE?!”. (Just kidding, vegans). Vegan visionaries What The Pitta have opened a hot new restaurant in Camden, serving up some top Turkish food, sans meat. (See more vegan restaurants in London.)
What The Pitta are taking up residence in north London, and bringing their MVP dish along for the ride. Their vegan döner kebab is beloved at their Shoreditch and Croydon locations, and now revellers spilling out of Underworld or Electric Ballroom will be able to share the love.
Made with secret-spiced soya pieces, tzatziki, hummus, and chilli sauce, and wrapped in a freshly made wrap, the vegan kebab is a popular addition to London’s vegan scene. What The Pitta also offer Turkish pizza, salad boxes, and mezze options, as well as baklava for those with a sweet tooth. Along with the new Camden branch of fried “chicken” purveyors Temple of Seitan, it looks like the vegans of NW1 are fast-food equipped at last.
Location: 89-91 Bayham Street, Camden, NW1 0AG. Nearest station is Camden Town. They also have locations at Boxpark Shoreditch and Boxpark Croydon.
Opening hours: 11:30am-9pm (Sunday to Wednesday), 11:30am-11pm (Thursday to Saturday).
Price: the vegan döner will set you back £7.95.
