Missing the city? Look Up London has your solution.
Now, my bedroom window currently features scenic vistas of some bins, a rusty bike, and some scaffolding, so I don’t know about you, but I’m desperate for a different kind of view. Thankfully, help is at hand in the form of Look Up London, who run walking tours all over town – you know, when we’re not being stricken by a global pandemic. With tours currently postponed due to social distancing measures, founder Katie has found a brilliant way to show people the sights of London: by running virtual walking tours on the Look Up London social media feeds.
Self-isolating? Working from home?
I’m planning a live virtual tour through Instagram live at 2pm today! Do come and join me for some fun historical nuggets around Tower Hill! #lookuplondonlive join in here👇🏼https://t.co/YH9e4wNxap— Look Up London (@Look_UpLondon) March 18, 2020
Starting every day at 2pm, the tours can transport you to a new part of town, whilst Katie tells you all about historical facts and little tidbits of info related to each site. Yesterday’s tour – which appeared on Look Up London’s Facebook page and is now available to watch on their Instagram account via IGTV – was concerned with Tower Hill, and featured citywide panics (don’t know where that inspo came from) and one of our favourite hidden parks.
Today’s tour concerned Covent Garden, so keep an eye out for that one on their social media feeds later today. In the meanwhile, you can support Look Up London by buying gift vouchers for future tours, or donating to their Paypal account – find both on their website. Hey, if you walk on the spot whilst watching the tours, it’s almost like the real thing!
