It’s actually here…
Is Salt Bae still culturally relevant in 2021? The man himself – who boasts 38m followers on Instagram, to be fair – clearly thinks so. Turkish chef and viral internet sensation Nusret Gökçe, better known to us as Salt Bae, has just opened his long-awaited restaurant in Knightsbridge, London. Hallelujah! Nusr-Et Steakhouse already has popular branches across Turkey, Dubai, and the USA, but now Gökçe as brought his saucy meat prep a little further afield…
The anticipated news that Nusr-Et Steakhouse has come to The Park Tower Knightsbridge Hotel is actually massively overdue, given that it was first announced back in 2017 and subsequently slated for December 2019. The latest opening date, scheduled for May 2021 (when indoor dining returned), was cancelled again and sort of flew under the radar, making impatient fans wonder if it’ll ever open at all.
Now, here we are *checks calender* September 23, and people are finally enjoying the steaks from Salt Bae. An Instagram post yesterday from the man, the myth, the legend himself, broke the news that it would indeed arrive today.
In the halcyon days of 2017, Salt Bae won us all over after he posted a video of himself tenderly preparing meat and salting it with more sass than we’d ever seen before. If you haven’t seen the video, a) which rock have you been living under? and b) here it is.
Now, back to the important part, his London restaurant. It has been suggested that a Tomahawk Steak – covered in actual gold – will be available for purchase, with an eye-watering £700 price tag attached to it. However, for most of us, the steaks around the £20 mark should suffice.
Find Salt Bae’s new gaff at The Park Tower, Knightsbridge Hotel 101, SW1X 7RN.
