Is this what dreams are made of?
Whereas the recent unveiling of a pizza vending machine in Rome may have “horrified” some locals, something tells me the reaction to a vegan sausage roll may just receive a better response. After all, you just have to look at the obsession of the heavenly vegan delicacy on certain circles of the internet to know that’s it might be becoming something of a national treasure. Okay, it’s not quite pizza in Italy, but people go mad for it, okay? [Featured Image: Meatless Farm].
Heavily popularised by Greggs, the vegan sausage roll is (rightly) claimed to be far superior to its meat-filled counterpart. I can’t claim to be a vegan, but I will go on record to say this is absolutely true. And now, vegan sausage roll fanatics will have the chance to see what one from a vending machine tastes like.
With just the press of a few buttons at the South Bank on June 5, hungry walkers can fill up on a tasty vegan delight. It’s only around for one day (National Sausage Roll day, obv), but we’re praying it’s successful and becomes “a thing”, to be quite honest. Oh, and they’re FREE.
Behind the marvellous new machine is Meatless Farm, who have now officially laid claim to the UK’s very first plant-based sausage roll vending machine. If that ain’t a claim to fame, I’m not sure what is.
You’ll be able to pick up your free sausage roll, hot or cold, between 11.30am and 7pm on Saturday, June 5. Find it over at Observation Point, 56 Upper Ground, South Bank.
