*Sigh*… Back here again are we? Back in another Christmas of uncertainty, after nearly two years of stop, start, stop, start. Yep, looks that way.
London is, metaphorically speaking, on fire right now; with the highest number of Omicron Covid cases in the country, and pretty much everyone you know testing positive left, right and centre in the last few days before Christmas. On top of that it’s cold, dark, and the looming lockdown shadow looks to be getting stronger by the day. Still, at least we have the funny tweets on the internet so.. every cloud.
Here are some of said tweets that seem to perfectly sum up the situation in London right now.
Everyone’s worried about catching Covid before Christmas Day
Not getting covid 10 days before Christmas is our nation's Squid Game

Not getting Covid during the 10 days prior to Christmas is literally the worst adrenalin sport ever.

Trying to avoid getting Omicron in the run-up to Christmas in London feels like being on a round of Takeshi's Castle

Luckily, someone realised there’s a foolproof way to test yourself after Lateral Flow Tests are running low…
Can’t believe they’re replacing PCRs with this rapid online test pic.twitter.com/MBKizWIB3G

In fact, it’s gotten so bad that people have given London a rather unfortunate nickname…
saw someone refer to london as ‘omicron head office’ and i haven’t stopped laughing about it since

What it feels like out there when you haven’t tested positive…

And finding evidence on the street doesn’t exactly help Omicron HQ’s case…

But at least we have those famous words to look to in a time of crisis…
Live, Laugh, Lateral Flow x

Don’t quite take it to this extent, mind…
Currently watching a lady do a lateral flow test while ON the central line. It’s going to make Bond Street to Notting Hill particularly tense.

Others are (probably quite sensibly) fleeing the vicinity…

Can’t deny this never crossed my mind during a ten-day isolation…
The isolating with covid urge to put whiskey in your lemsip first thing on a Monday morning because fuck it why not

Gotten so bad I just believed this Daily Mash headline…
Christmas brought forward to tomorrow and lockdown to day after, says government https://t.co/aFdI1Rg2pD

It’s beginning to feel this way…
Protect your mental health by self-isolating from the news.

And to end on a serious note: our thoughts go out to anyone not able to make it home to celebrate Christmas this year, and we wish those that do a safe and healthy end to the year.
I have covid. It’s really not very pleasant. Suspect I have the omicron after being in London earlier in the week. Wear a mask, get your vaccines and stay safe. Yesterday it felt like a ‘bit of a cold’…but a bus came and ploughed me over in my sleep overnight.
