London commuters face significant travel disruption this weekend as major engineering works and the Hackney Half Marathon hit key tube and train lines.
The Central line and DLR will be most severely affected, with the Windrush line and Elizabeth line also experiencing closures.
Two major train lines are disrupted this weekend
Central Line
The biggest disruption hits the Central line with a complete suspension between Marble Arch and Leytonstone:
- Saturday May 16, 1:45am–5:15am: No trains between Marble Arch and Woodford/Newbury Park
- Saturday May 16, 5:45am onwards and all day Sunday May 17 (including Night Tube): No service between Marble Arch and Leytonstone
- Both days: Mile End station is closed
This major closure spans the entire weekend, including the Saturday Night Tube service.
DLR
- Both nights: No service on the entire DLR network after 11:30pm on Saturday and Sunday
- Sunday only: No trains between Shadwell and Tower Gateway
Other train services affected this weekend
Elizabeth Line
- Sunday May 17: No trains between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7:40am
Piccadilly Line
- Eastbound trains will not call at Barons Court until June
District Line
Both days: Mile End station closed
Ongoing: Eastbound trains skip Barons Court until June (same detour as Piccadilly)
Hammersmith and City Line
Both days: Mile End station closed
Windrush Line (Overground)
Sunday May 17: No trains between New Cross Gate and West Croydon/Crystal Palace
Hackney Half Marathon impact this weekend
The 2026 HOKA Hackney Half Marathon takes place on Sunday May 17, bringing additional service changes:
- Mildmay line: Additional services running between Stratford and Camden Road in both directions
- Homestead station: Closed eastbound until 11am
- Busiest stations: Stratford, Hackney Wick, and Clapton will be much busier than usual
