Harry Potter: The Exhibition will embark on a world tour in 2022.
Dust off your cloaks and dig out your wands: it’s been confirmed that a massive, behind-the-scenes Harry Potter exhibition will make its way around the globe in 2022. Though shrouded in mystery, it’s supposedly heading to Europe next year with a dash of Lockhart-level flourish, a sprinkle of Snape-style secrecy and a hearty glug of Dumbledore-worthy wizardry.
As of yet, the exhibition has announced no dates or destinations for its world tour, only stating that details of the world premiere will be revealed in the coming months. What we do know is that the event promises even more magical curiosities than its debut, but exactly what may as well be guarded by Fluffy himself. All we can do now is channel Alastor Moody and keep a Mad-Eye out for any upcoming details on this fantastical tour.
While we wait for the details to get worked out, we’re just going to go ahead and keep our fingers crossed that it might visit London at some stage. If and when it does, visitors can expect “immersive design and technology” along with “beautifully crafted environments” to bring the Wizarding World to life, with a plentiful array of settings, creatures, characters, and more to be featured. The real-life “filmmaking magic” will be given plenty of space to shine, too.
There’ll be no need for floo powder, portkeys or apparition spells here, the exhibition will transport you inside the books with in-depth looks at Hogwarts Castle, Gringotts, the Ministry of Magic, dragons, the Dark Arts, and plenty more. Expect to see authentic props and original costumes from both the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films on display, plus the odd bit of immersive storytelling magic.
All in all, it’s billed as the biggest touring exhibition of Harry Potter ever mounted, and since the team behind it have also mounted large-scale exhibitions for Downton Abbey, Titanic, and Jurassic World, I reckon we’ll be in for a treat! We’ll keep you updated with more information as soon as we have it.
