Yes, we’ve been going on and on about all the amazing Christmas markets in London, but there’s always room for another. Head to London’s most iconic square to get a good look at the infamous Trafalgar Square Christmas tree and a stroll along market stalls and twinkling lights.
The Trafalgar Square Christmas Market on Trafalgar Square’s Northbank is nothing short of magical! Over 34 wooden chalets are available to browse, and you can choose from beautiful hand-crafted goods such as candle holders, Christmas ornaments, jewellery, and so much more.
Warm up with festive grub, from mini pancakes and chocolate fountains to bratwursts and cheesy chips, or head over to the big bar in the centre for mulled wines, ciders and hot chocolates too.
On top of all that, you get stunning views of The National Gallery, Nelson’s Column, and the famous Trafalgar Square fountains. Not to mention the giant, glowing tree in the centre: Though the poor thing has faced much criticism in the past (it has been commonly referred to as the ‘world’s tallest cucumber’), this historic festive landmark — donated by the lovely people of Norway every year since 1947 as thanks for helping out in World War 2 — is lighting up the square again this winter, much to the amusement of onlookers.
Let’s hope that this lovely Christmas market can help the tree to gain some popularity amongst the naysayers. After all, if you can’t be nice at Christmas, when can you be?!
Visit The Trafalgar Square Christmas Market until January 2 2022 at 10pm, and you can find out more info here.
