Now, I know we haven’t made a particularly big deal about it or anything, but it’s been really rather toasty in the capital city this summer, hasn’t it? With temperatures rivalling The Shard in height, we Londoners have all had to find ways to beat the record-breaking heat. The coffees have been iced, the clothing has been minimal, and the fans have been working overtime. But one London landmark has taken its heat-busting methods to a whole new level.
Tower Bridge has recently undergone a high-tech, heat-reducing revamp. In a bid to adapt to the increasingly-scorching summers, a heat-reducing treatment has been applied to the glass of its iconic High-level Walkways – allowing visitors to stay cool, calm, and collected whilst exploring the historic monument.
Sat 42-metres above the River Thames, the walkways offers some of the most spectacular views in the city. Visitors marveling at the sweeping vista can now do so whilst feeling a whole lot cooler, as the innovative glass coating significantly reduces the amount of solar heat that’s able to enter the attraction.
The heat-beating treatment comes courtesy of Restoreo, and uses advanced micro-layer coating technology to reject up to 95% of infrared radiation and block up to 96% of UV rays. It’s practically invisible so doesn’t interrupt the panoramic views that can be seen from the High-level Walkways. And if you time your visit right, you can watch one of the famous Bridge Lifts from the very best seat in the house.
