London’s fine dining scene is set for a major shake-up this September as the highly anticipated outpost of New York’s legendary Masa, opens its doors at The Chancery Rosewood in Mayfair. Helmed by the acclaimed chef Masayoshi ‘Masa’ Takayama, this new restaurant promises to bring the artistry and exclusivity of its three Michelin-starred predecessor to the UK capital.
Since its debut in 2004, Masa in New York has become synonymous with luxury sushi, earning three Michelin stars and a reputation as one of America’s top dining destinations.
The restaurant is renowned for its ingredient-led philosophy, minimalist interiors, and a strict no-photography policy that enhances the exclusivity of the experience. Guests are treated to the finest seafood flown in from Japan, including octopus, scallops, squid, and clams, all prepared using traditional sushi techniques.
What to expect at Tobi Masa
Tobi Masa will mirror the ethos of its New York counterpart, presenting sushi as a form of fine art. The menu will feature signature dishes such as:
- Surimi Masa Pasta
- Peking Duck Tacos
- Masa Toro Tartare (fatty tuna topped with caviar)
In addition to these classics, the London outpost will offer new creations exclusive to the city.
One of the world’s best sushi restaurants but also the most expensive restaurant in America
Dining at Masa in New York is a lavish affair and by that I mean, it’s up there with being one of the most expensive restaurants in America. The omakase experience is priced at $750 per person which is around £553 and the exclusive hinoki counter experience costs $950 per person which is £701. And this is before drinks or service…
Tobi Masa is just one of eight restaurants and bars set to open at The Chancery Rosewood, a luxury hotel housed in the former US Embassy in Mayfair.
The hotel will also feature the first European outpost of the celebrity-favourite Italian restaurant Carbone, a new Asian concept, and The Eagle Bar – a rooftop venue with panoramic views of London’s skyline.
