Clearly, Kew Gardens have been tucking into leftover candycanes and come up with an idea…
Someone in the Kew Gardens team has clearly taken the sentiments of I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday to heart, because tickets for their Christmas lights trail are on sale… *checks calendar* 159 days before Christmas. Yes, if you’d like to pretend it’s not scorching outside – and be ultra-prepared for the festive season to boot – you can do so by reserving a place at one of London’s favourite Christmas lights trails.
I jest, but Kew (and anyone who’s already picked up their tickets) are fairly justified in being excited for the festive fancy, given that last year’s display was wrecked by first the November lockdown, and then London’s move into Tier 4. All in all, they managed about two weeks of uninterrupted Christmas joy before closing, so we’ll not begrudge them jumping the gun a little on the 2021 celebrations.
Still, the early bird gets the worm, I guess – and this worm is actually a trail of one million lights, twinkling amongst the trees (really lost control of that metaphor, didn’t I?). It’s a really stunning event, and should go hand in hand with a hopefully uninterrupted London Christmas this year. Christmas at Kew will run from November 17 to January 9, and you can get your hands on tickets from the Kew website. Merry summer, everyone!
