In many ways, it must be a tough gig being the tallest thing in London, but the Shard stoically stands away, reminding us of this fact on a daily basis, carrying out its work until it’s inevitably usurped by some a lankier building rising higher. Still, it is always a sight to behold, and today (October 1), if you look at the Shard, you’ll see a powerful message beamed on its peak.
In contrast with the dark night sky, London’s tallest building will light up bright pink to mark the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which commences today.
Look to the London skyline from around 9pm tonight to see the Shard having its pink moment, reminding us of the importance of the mission of Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the world. It promotes early detection & knowing the signs, education on the topic, and supporting the life-saving research that’s carried out to help those diagnosed with breast cancer.
As well as the pink light display tonight, the businesses inside the Shard will be raising money towards Breast Cancer Awareness throughout the entire month, so if you find yourself at one of these venues, you can enjoy their service for a good cause. Oblix at The Shard will make a donation to Breast Cancer Now for each Pink Afternoon Tea sold, while The Shangri-La Hotel will be offering Clouds of Pink Afternoon Tea, a Pink Sky Brunch, and Pink-Hued Creations to raise money for Guy’s Cancer Charity.
