It’s not everyday you get to stay in a castle…
Now we are fully aware that travel is currently off limits but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan for the future right? Plus with over 10 million people already vaccinated in the UK, we have high hopes that we’ll soon be jet-setting once again. As wonderful as hotels and AirBnBs can be, we’re after a little more adventure post-lockdown. And that’s where Tawstock Castle comes in… This Grade II listed castle is the ultimate staycation spot and fortunately, you and a group of seven can stay there! [Featured image: Vrbo]
This beautiful venue houses eight guests altogether, with two en suite bedrooms and another two located in the tower itself – it’s truly something out of a fairytale! To add to all the grandeur, the castle is surrounded by a bailey that boasts 360 degree views of the Tawstock village. This was actually the very last castle to be built in England and has been completely restored by its owners. You can therefore expect a wonderful combination of period features and modern decor.

While it may look as though the castle is in the middle of nowhere, this couldn’t be further from the truth. It is located right by the town of Barnstaple and the sandy beaches of North Devon. The average night costs roughly £450, working out at just over £55 per person per night. If you ask me, that’s a pretty incredible deal considering you’d have the whole castle to yourselves! That’s one way to celebrate the end of lockdown…
