Choosing the right tattoo and artist can sometimes feel like climbing a mountain – right? With over three thousand studios dotted across the UK – employing over 10,000 tattoo artists – where do you even begin? Maybe you’ve seen photos online of designs you like, but you have no idea how to then find a quality tattoo artist who works in that style.
Or perhaps you have an artist in mind that you like, but you’re unsure of how to approach them with the know-how to co-create your dream tattoo? It could even be that you feel a little awkward, walking in there with your uninked skin and your lack of tat knowledge. Regardless of your experience – or lack there of – in the tattoo world, then this is where the guys at Tattoodo come in.
Here’s some insight from Johan Plenge, the Tattoodo co-founder and CEO:
“Tattoodo is all about helping people find the right artist and making sure they have a great experience getting their next tattoo.“
The brand was also co-founded by renowned tattooist Ami James – of the prestigious Miami Ink – and it has a host of big name backers including ex-Liverpool football player and Tattoodo co-founder, Daniel Agger.
“It’s been crazy to see how popular tattoos have become in the football world” says Agger. “Over the years many of my teammates and friends have been asking me for advice, and that’s basically the idea behind Tattoodo – to make it easy for anyone to find a great artist and then get tattooed.”
With industry behemoths at the helm, Tattoodo are demystifying and democratising the process of getting tattooed. Their aim is to help people find the right artist and make the booking process simple. Whether you’ve wanted a tattoo for years but never quite worked up the nerve, or you’re covered in them, head to toe – their easy three-step process ensures that everyone feels invited, empowered and excited to be a part of the tattoo scene.
They’re kicking off the weekend with an invite-only opening party at 149 Shoreditch High Street, EC2A 3EH on Friday 21st April (6–10pm), followed by the Saturday (12-7pm) and Sunday (12-6pm) which are both open to the public. As well as the chance to cop a free tattoo, you’ll also be able to enjoy live music, bevvies and even some free goodies thrown in for good measure too!
Note that walk-ins will be covered on a first come, first served basis – so get their early doors to ensure you get a chance to be tattooed by one of the resident artists. Artists in residence across both days include Sophie Hunter, Mario Teide, Laurel Cummins, Delphin Musquet and Matty Magee.
