Nas Has Opened A Chicken And Waffle House In London

Sweet Chick is all about that brunch life.

Hot on the heels of Mark Wahlberg opening a burger joint, another celeb-backed restaurant has just opened in London. Rapper Nas has decided that If I Ruled the World, there’d be an all-American chicken and waffle house in the capital – so he’s elected to make it happen, with the arrival of Sweet Chick.

I’ll be honest with you, I know incredibly little about Nas, so that’s probably the end of the puns for now. Still, the food looks tantalising enough to put this on a “must-visit” list, with a laser focus on southern American comfort food at this new Fitzrovia joint. Taking pride of place on the menu is the classic fried chicken and waffles, which is exactly what it sounds, plus maple syrup. Honestly, if you’ve never had chicken and waffles before, you haven’t lived!

Choose between spiced pecan or bacon and cheddar waffles to go with your classic fried chicken; or add a bit of fire with a speciality Nashville hot sauce, or states-style BBQ chicken.

Other homely favourites that have made the trip across the pond include shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, mac and cheese, and cornbread.

Drinks will include a cracking cocktails list, including the Tiger, Tiger Wood Y’all with bourbon, cognac, lemon, honey and iced tea, and the Sweet Chick with vodka, triple-sec, watermelon and lemon. There’ll also be plenty of local beers, including collaboration brews, from London Fields Brewery.

The restaurant is opening on Monday, September 30 at 5pm and The Message is it also plans to launch a weekend brunch some time soon. Ok, maybe that wasn’t the end of the puns after all (thanks Spotify)…

You’ll find Sweet Chick at 8 Market Place, Fitzrovia, W1W 8AG.
