While we might be moving away from true roast season in London for the next couple of months, there are always times to make an exception. And a Sunday Roast being made available at Westminster Abbey surely has to fall under that category.
Sitting down and tucking into a roast in a building that has stood for over 1,000 years is one of those things you just want to be able to pull out of your locker, just to say that you’ve done – and the good folks at the Cellarium Café and Terrace have indulged us. A roast can be enjoyed at a World Heritage Site in the centre of London, with views of the historic Abbey and a beautiful glass-roofed setting.
The Westminster Abbey Sunday Roast
Only available on Sundays (duh), the Westminster Abbey roast gives you a mean choice of meats in the form of lamb chop, chicken breast, or beef steak, then adds the trimmings in the form of roasted vegetables (depending on what’s in season), Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. If you wish to make it a three-course affair, you can do just that. Sandwiching a roast in between a courgette and ricotta tart and a homemade New York cheesecake with berry coulis sounds like the kind of end to the week we should all be enjoying.
Get yourself down for a meal that’s as traditional as it is historic and be sure to beam as you shovel away the trusty roast components your gravy-soaked plates at Westminster Abbey. Next, we’ll be bringing you news about pie and mash at the Tower Of London… (not really… yet).
