There are all sorts of exciting festive things to look forward to when Christmas rolls around. It’s a simply wondrous sight to see the city suffused with holiday light displays and shop windows decorated with Christmassy cheer. And who can forget the return of the city’s many Christmas markets? One particularly wonderful example to check out is the Spitalfields Christmas Market.
They’ve brought their usual festive cheer back to London, with the shopping and dining destination transformed with a wealth of decor, Christmas trees, and plenty of mulled wine. They’ve turned on the Christmas lights, chucked on the chunky festive sweaters, and they’re now celebrating with festivities and cheer all through the holiday season.
Guests can enjoy all sorts of Christmas events throughout the season. There are live theatre shows, fun family-friendly activities, and special offers at shops and venues. Billing itself as “East London’s jolliest Christmas market”, the Christmas market wonderfully accents the area’s already heaving selection of retail opportunities, from independent market stalls to global retail icons. And don’t forget about the many food and beverage vendors, too!

Spitalfields Market is a globally renowned destination that brings together everything you need for a day out in one convenient package. Within metres of each other, you can find independent fashion, beauty, and wellness brands, as well as a daily traders market. There you can browse art from local makers, and grab one-of-a-kind gifts from the many stalls.
When you’ve worked up an appetite there’s a HUGE amount of food market stalls, restaurants, and bars, with something for everyone. They even recently opened a brand-new Lamb Street food hub, to make it even harder for foodies to choose what to eat.
Theatre at Spitalfields Christmas Market
As if a whole host of shopping and dining options wasn’t enough, the market is also hosting the UK’s first zero-waste theatre from The Greenhouse Theatre. The theatre company is debuting their new play The Lost Library of Spitalfields Market, with performances through to December 24. The play follows a young girl trying to buy a Christmas present for her mother, when she stumbles upon a hidden library of discarded and forgotten objects in Spitalfields Market.
As well as the performance, they’re also offering up a range of family-friendly activities and workshops, sustainable gift wrapping, and a zero-waste bar. Grab a ticket and find out more about the events on offer from The Greenhouse Theatre’s pop-up here.
