This may be controversial, but I’ll go out and say it: Shrek 2 beats the original. If you agree (and you probably do), you’re going to love what’s coming your way. This iconic piece of cinema is returning to the big screen 22 years later, just in time to make the wait for Shrek 5 a little easier. But this won’t be your bog-standard Shrek 2 screening: this time around, your ticket will include a creative multi-course menu inspired by the film.
At a Taste Film screening of Shrek 2, you’ll get to eat your way through some of the most memorable moments on the screen, with delicious courses inspired by and served in sync with the story. Expect a honey-glazed beachside picnic and a fast-food favourite fit for a king, complete with crown. Also par for the course: glow-up potions and a ginger-y dessert to take you on a journey to Far, Far Away.

Yes, I know, the wait for Shrek 5 is brutal. But hey, at least there are plenty of things to do in London for Shrek fans. Beyond the Shrek 2 screenings at Taste Film, one of our favourite ogre-themed activities in the capital is Shrek’s Adventure, where you’ll embark on a journey through the kingdom of Far Far Away to find Shrek. Indulge in your childhood nostalgia as you interact with key characters from the films and sing along to songs from the fabulous Shrek soundtrack.
In October, two very special Shrek events are headed to the Clapham Grand: drag cabaret Shrektacular on October 8 and Shrek tribute concert Ogrepalooza on October 30. Queens HERR and Me will host the drag extravaganza, while Ogrepalooza will be headlined by The Ogretones, a 9-piece live band also known as the UK’s number one Shrek tribute band. Note: both events are for adults only.
