It’s official: a new Shrek adventure is on its way to the big screen. Following the first announcement of the movie all the way back in 2024, we now have a trailer for Shrek 5 – and it looks like quite some time has passed in Far Far Away.
Or should we say Further Further Away? Shrek and Donkey are headed on their next adventure to a new magical city, where they end up in a whole lot of trouble and are thrown in jail, together with Fiona and their kids.
The original star-studded cast is back again for this one, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz in their signature roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. They’re joined by an iconic new trio playing Shrek and Fiona’s now-teenage kids: Zendaya will voice daughter Felicia, along with Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo, who will voice brothers Fergus and Farkle.
And if you’re wondering who’s behind the camera for Shrek 5, the movie appears to be in good hands, directed by Shrek franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, who worked on many of the previous films. Vernon even voiced Gingerbread Man across all the other Shrek movies, and Dohrn voiced Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After.
The wait is not quite over, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel: Shrek 5 is coming to London theatres in summer 2027.
How to fill the Shrek-shaped hole in your heart while you wait
