Rooftop vibes and fine dining, high above Oxford Street.
Something of an annual tradition, Selfridges have finally re-opened their rooftop restaurant, this time with a summery new look and a new menu from San Carlo.
As is de rigeur these days, the decoration consists of extensive verdant overhead foliage and citrus trees, all underneath a retractable roof that’s perfect for sunny days. Plus, something that’s best described as a Selfie Bench:
Among other dishes on the Italian menu: fillet of seabass cooked in black volcanic salt from Mount Etna; truffle and pecorino ravioli; basil and prawn risotto; Chianina beef from Tuscany, and fish grilled in a Josper oven.
Dessert-wise we’re postively lusting over the sound of the Coppa Golosa, ‘a giant bowl of chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla gelato topped with crushed Ferrero Rocher and warm Nutella sauce.’
If you just fancy a drink, pop along from May 15 onwards, when Selfridges’ open-air bar-terrace will also open, this year brought to you by Peroni and then, later, Veuve Clicquot. Or for something a little more casual, visit the food hall downstairs for a luxury Krispy Kreme doughnut or avocado gelato:
