He made audiences roar with laughter as an 8 Out Of 10 Cats team captain.
Sean Lock has sadly passed away at home from cancer, surrounded by his family, at the age of 58. The phenomenal comedian was well-known for his panel show appearances, making people laugh out loud with his hilarious deadpan style, and he will be sorely missed.
He was perhaps best known for appearing in 8 Out Of 10 Cats and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, but his comedy career dates back to the 1990s with appearances in sketch comedy shows such as Newman and Baddiel in Pieces.
Fans may remember the brilliant 15 Minutes of Misery on Radio 4, in which he played a grumpy man who constantly eavesdrops on his neighbors. This later inspired the masterpiece that is 15 Storeys High – an incredible comedy in which Lock plays the same character alongside his housemate Errol who has to put up with his bad moods and grumpy behaviour, to fantastic comic effect.
Cleverly written stand-up won him the award for best live stand-up comedy at the 2000 British Comedy Awards, and as fellow comedians begin to voice their sadness at his passing, the British public will miss his intelligent and creative comedy dearly.
