It’s like a book club, but it’s on a roof.
Last year marked the inaugural Rooftop Book Club, which saw a group of bookish social butterflies descend on Stratford to climb to the site of the long-running Rooftop Film Club to chat all things Gone Girl. This year comes in collaboration with The London Girls Book Club, and sees founder Caitlin Curry lead a discussion on The Hunger Games.
Here’s a peek at what went down last year:
Those who have a ticket will head in for a quick drink before sitting down to get down to the details of the seismic Suzanne Collins story, with thoughts, theories on characters, and facts welcomed at the chat among book lovers of the city. There will also be a small discussion on the brand new Collins novel, Sunshine On The Reaping and there will be a break between two halves of the overall discssipn for groups to swap and meet new people along the way. It’s set up to be an intimate evening with a chance to discuss your favourite moments from the book series and films.
Since this is being held at Rooftop Film Club, they couldn’t let you go without a screening to top off the night, could they? From 8pm, after the book discussion, you can pick up your snacks at sit back in front of the original movie with a glass of wine in tow. If the sky plays ball, you couldn’t really ask for much more of a serene evening surrounded by book and film lovers alike.
Rooftop Book Club takes place on June 19, wth a discussion of ‘The Hunger Games’ in partnership with London Girls Book Club. Tickets are now sold out, but another event with a similar format is in discussion for the following month, so watch this space for information to come here! Find out more about it on the Rooftop Film Club website.
