Just when you thought London had everything you could ever want, along comes Britain’s first ever rice pudding bar. That’s right, the dreaded post-school dinner pud has had a glow up, and it actually looks sort of tempting?
Earlier this month (February), Rizz Rice popped up at Greenwich Peninsula, inside Canteen Food Hall. It offers a whole range of different toppings and flavours of the classic British pudding. We’re talking Creme Bruleé, Rocky Road, Sticky Mango, and of course it wouldn’t be a dessert spot without a Lotus option. They’re all vegetarian and vegan, too – and use nothing but the best local, organic ingredients.
Championing sustainability in every way they can, Rizz Rice also have sweet arancini balls on their menu, meaning no rice pudding goes to waste. They’re made fresh to order and rolled in crispy Frosties cereal for a proper tasty treat.
Founder Jayson Jansen Van Vuuren says:
We want folks to see rice pudding in a new light. For some, it’ll be about reliving a childhood moment with their favourite flavours from around the world. For others, it’ll be trying something brand new, unexpected, and bursting with originality. Rice pudding evokes fond memories all over the world. From Mexican arroz con leche, to nutty Thai black sticky rice, to the creamy pudding served with a dollop of strawberry jam you had as a child, rice pudding pots allow you to taste nostalgia with every spoon. Greenwich Peninsula’s Canteen Food Hall & Bar is the perfect place for us to park up, within the creative hub of the Design District.
You’ll find Rizz Rice at Canteen Food Hall in Greenwich most weekends, but follow them on Instagram for the most up to date info.
