Chilly weather calls for crisp winter walks and cosy cafés. And what’s better than a regular cosy café, I hear you ask? A riverside cosy café, of course.
Located along the Thames pathway, nestled between Cutty Sark and the o2, is the River Gardens Café. Owned by a family who always spent their wintery walks along the river dreaming and scheming about their future riverfront café; this spot is quite literally their dream come true, and it oozes comfort and friendliness. The Mediterranean roots of the place mean that good food and family are at the heart of everything they do. This café-come-restaurant clearly has making its visitors feel at home high on the agenda.

Their menu is jam-packed with delicious, locally sourced and freshly prepared food. The quality of their food is paramount and their ingredients all come from small, independent businesses. Whether you’re dropping by for a coffee and a pastry, an afternoon tea, a weekend brunch, or a full-blown three course dinner; you can guarantee that the food will be fresh, local and ever-so yummy.
The decor is cosy and homely, with a touch of nauticality. To pay homage to it’s location that was once a bustling trading area; a large ‘Lovell’s Wharf’ sign adorns one of the walls. Photo frames and trinkets line the shelves, adding to the familial vibes. Floor to ceiling windows offer dazzling views out onto the River Thames and the laid-back, friendly atmosphere makes this the perfect spot to while away the hours. Oh, and it’s dog friendly too, so you can take your furry friends in for a doggy ice cream or a puppicino – what more could you ask for?
