Picture a world where you had to sneak around to enjoy a cocktail with your jazz; even know a password to enter a venue. While this may have been a reality 100 years ago in the US, this experience coming to the Vaults in Waterloo may just ask you for a secret code to enter their world, a world of free-flowing cocktails, magic, and live music.
Rhythm&Ruse lands in London this summer, and those who make it in can expect a jazz-kissed world where magic meets cabaret.
Rhythm&Ruse in the Vaults
Arriving on August 29, guests can expect to arrive to a world where a whispered password will gain you entry to a sparkling affair. Once you’re in your seats, you can expect a full on show to unfold.
Every guest will be treated to some showstopping closeup tricks from nine different magicians, each offering their own form of marvel and awe around the candlelit setting. Each performance will be unique, meaning that, even on a repeat visit to Rhythm&Ruse, you won’t see the same trick twice. As your eyes flicker between each one, you’ll also be bowled over by the glitz and the glamour of the cabaret performances on stage before your eyes.
Of course, this is a Jazz Age experience we’re talking about, so you can expect saxophone-laden live music to whisk you through your performance; all within the confines of the Vaults in Waterloo, safe from any prohibition officer who might hope to snatch a cocktail out of your grasp.
Speaking of cocktails, those who head to Rhythm&Ruse will be able to enjoy the unlimited, free-flowing drinks crafted by Tom Savano, all included in the ticker price! Sip down on Negronis, Raspberry Gin Gimlets, and more to your heart’s content. If you’re all cocktailed out, you can also choose from a mean selection of beers, wines, ciders and more, as well as light bites (we’re hearing rumours of handmade chocolate and gourmet popcorn) to keep you nice and fuelled up as the magic unfolds before your eyes at the beautiful art deco space.
Speaking on the experience, The Vaults said: “The Vaults is celebrating their tenth year London’s home for immersive and alternative arts, aiming to collaborate with emerging art and champion the daring of the industry.
“We look forward to Rhythm&Ruse bringing a little magic to our tunnels, as they transform us into a house of occult and otherness. We are proud to support this new company as they break into the fray of London and wish them every success.”
Rhythm&Ruse arrives at the The Vaults Theatre in Waterloo (Lancelot Street, SE1 7AD) on August 29, but you’ll want to book your place beforehand when tickets drop on June 1. Don’t forget the password.
