As any work email told you at the time, we were living through “scary/unprecedented/unusual/strange times” (delete as appropriate), which forced the events industry to make some pretty radical changes. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, for example, was been boxed into a pandemic-induced rethink – first cancelling their 2020 show (for the first time since WWII) and running an online extravaganza instead, and then, pushing the 2021 edition back to September. But, in 2022, it’s back where it belongs in its usual glorious sweet spot of spring paving the way for summer.
Dubbed the world’s greatest flower show, the extravaganza takes place from tomorrow (May 24) until Saturday, May 28, and horticulture enthusiasts will be breathing a huge sigh of relief that the event is taking place at it’s normal slot this time around.
Plus, as this year marks the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, you can be sure that the RHS Chelsea Flower Show will be providing a royal nod to the occasion, with plenty of dedicated plant and floral displays marking the milestone. The Queen has attended 50 shows during her 70 year reign, and hopes to be in attendance once again in 2022.
At the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, attendees can expect the classic beautiful array of flower blooms of spring and summer horticulture, as well as 39 astonishing gardens created by 44 designers. This even includes the “BBC Studios Our Green Planet & RHS Bee Garden”, which offers insight into how we can help our trusty pollinators.
And, as many of us love our houseplants (especially after lockodown), the Houseplant Studios will be returning after a successful debut last year. Visitors can expect inspiration for decorating their home with greenery and get tips on how to care for different kinds of plants.
