London is a wonderful place to be in the spring. As the weather gets warmer and the days get incrementally longer, we want to be maximising our time out and about – whether that’s perusing the shops or enjoying an alfresco meal at one of the city’s world-renowned restaurants. Of course it doesn’t hurt to be surrounded by stunning architecture and gorgeous green spaces whilst doing so! That’s why the historic neighbourhoods of Regent Street and St James’s are two of our favourite places in London to shop, dine and relax. Here’s a couple of must-visit spots to add to your springtime itinerary…
Regent Street
Indulge in rooftop drinks and exquisite dining
One of our favourite things about Regent Street is the spectacular variety of cafes, restaurants and bars you can find there. You’ll find spots both perfect for a long leisurely lunch, as well as a quick pit stop on a busy day of shopping.
At Treehouse you can enjoy rooftop drinks with stunning, 360 degree views of the London skyline at The Nest – the perfect aperitif spot before a special celebratory meal at Hotel Café Royale.
You’ll also find plenty of fantastic, laidback al fresco drinking and dining spots on Heddon Street, from flavour-packed Portuguese fare at Casa do Frango to authentic Japanese street food at Heddon Yokocho.
Get your spring glow with some pampering
Spring always feels like an appropriate time to take the self-care up a notch, whether that’s with a fun fitness class or a special beauty treatment – and you’ll find fantastic options for both of the above on Regent Street.
Barry’s and Thirdspace are two great places to squeeze in an invigorating exercise class. But we’ll be the first to admit, treating yourself to some sleek new gym wear from Lululemon or Gymshark is a great way to keep the motivation up!
You’ll also find more great pamper spots in Quadrant Arcade, from tailored massages at Masaj, to top notch haircuts at environmentally-conscious barber shop, Supply 91.
St James’s
Feast your way around St James’s
Home to an impressive array of world cuisine, St James’s Market is something of a neighbourhood dining hot spot. Whatever the occasion calls for, you’re sure to find the perfect place as you stroll along the thoroughfare.
If you’re in search of a special lunch spot, acclaimed restaurants like Fallow and Scully serve innovative, sustainably-focussed dishes that are sure to make for a memorable occasion. But if you’re looking to start the day early, a coffee and a pastry from Ole and Steen seated in the morning sun is just the thing. Or why not pay a visit to one of London’s oldest Italian restaurants? Francos on the nearby Jermyn Street offers elegant all-day dining in a charming setting that will transport you to another era.
Browse charming boutiques for special purchases
There really is no end to the treasures you can find across the neighbourhood’s independent boutiques and heritage brands. Whether you’re keeping your eye out for something in particular or simply looking to fill your kitchen with some delicious artisanal produce, you’re sure to come away happy after a day of shopping in St James’s.
If a peaceful spring stroll through St James’s Park inspires you to fill your home with beautiful flowers, we recommend you visit Floris on Jermyn Street. Fortnum and Mason is also the perfect place to find some delicious treats for a picnic, if you’re hoping to soak up the sunshine a little longer. But if shopping for an investment purchase is on the agenda, you can find everything from luxury mattresses at ViSpring to the finest fashion in the likes of Luca Faloni and Emma Willis.
