In a celebration of voice, representation and pride, Oxford Street is bringing back PROUD WEST END for Pride Month, an incredible audio-visual exhibition that’s made its prideful return to Mayfair. The exhibit champions LGBTQ+ stories within the heart of the West End, and intrinsically so, thanks to its deep-rooted foundations as London’s vibrant gaybourhood.
PROUD WEST END is a beautiful gallery of ‘living portraits’ that’ve completely transformed Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, showcasing real, authentic lived experiences of 11 queer individuals.
This must-see exhibition comprises of larger-than-life installations of stunning portraiture, focusing on these loud and proud storytellers. There’s even ample more information available through their dedicated QR codes, allowing you to understand the subjects of the photos on another level.
You can expect to feel a wide range of heart-felt emotions, as you journey through the al fresco gallery by watching and hearing these raw and unfiltered stories. Each individual shares their candid truth on being a part of the West End’s LGTBQIA+ community, delving into what ‘proud’ means to them.
On top of this exciting news, an array of Oxford Street’s shops and brands will be supporting the celebrations by running offers and experiences as part PROUD WEST END.
The exhibit was curated in partnership with Heard Storytelling, and we’re over the moon with this well-deserved return, adding another fantastic option for celebrating and honouring Pride Month in London.
Colette Burroughs-Rose (she/her), Director at Heard Storytelling said: “The return of PROUD WEST END for a second year provides a vital platform for voices often unheard. True spoken storytelling uniquely deepens understanding and creates connections. By sharing diverse, lived experiences in this creative and impactful way, we aim to foster solidarity, hope, and pride.“
You will be able to check out PROUD WEST END on Grosvenor Square in Mayfair from June 11. This public, outdoor exhibition is free to view, so be sure to stop by and show off your unwavering pride this Pride Month.
