If you’re often found exploring the streets of Soho, or recently popped off the tube at Tottenham Court Road, you’ve undoubtedly come across this mind-blowing immersive space that’s about to celebrate Pride Month in a momentous way.
Outernet is one of London’s newest exhibition spaces and event venues, viral for their gorgeously immersive installations. They have put together an incredible line-up of programming specifically curated for Pride Month, which includes some awesome exhibitions that are completely free of charge.
Celebrate Pride Month at Outernet!
The venue will be partnering up with Pride in London, GAY TIMES, GALOP, Classical Pride, and Trans+ History Week, to showcase a diverse range of content and art, designed to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community in London, and across the globe.
Highlights include fabulous installations and exhibitions, including one devoted to (and in partnership with) GAY TIMES, who are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary. From 6th June to 1st July, witness the legendary publication’s archive at this must-see exhibit. It will feature stunning displays, not only spotlighting the artistry behind an iconic cover, but also, the magazine’s journey and the strides made in LGBTQ+ representation.
Another artsy addition to their Pride offerings includes an installation in coherence with official charity partner, ADOT and GALOP. GALOP are a prominent anti-hate crime charity for the LGBTQ+ community that focuses on campaigning for equality and championing the rise of gay pride.
In Outernet’s Now Trending space from the 14th – 23rd June, GALOP will be creating an immersive digital experience where visitors can experience an all-encompassing storm, which turns into sunshine and rainbows.
In over eight years, the UK has plummeted down ILGA’s Rainbow Europe Index of ‘safe’ countries for LGBTQ+ people, from 1st place in 2015 to 17th place in 2023. This installation is a beautifully touching metaphor for being yourself in the eye of a storm.
More from Outernet this Pride Month:
On June 17th – 30th, the exhibition and events space will be home to a powerful experience filled with Trans Pride. QueerAF are putting on their first launchpad project, where visitors can learn about viral Trans+ history. The experience allows you to go on a journey through the millennia old history of trans people, all while immersed in the choral sounds of the UK’s first professional trans+ choir, Trans Voices.
Outernet will also be hosting an unmissable event for Classical Pride in July, in which the underground world of drag collides with classical music. It’s the perfect way to extend Pride Month, as events continue to take over London and the UK throughout the summer. For more information on Classical Pride, click here.
