With a new Premier League season having kicked off last month, football fanatics across the city are, once again, being reminded that the cost of being a steadfast supporter extends far beyond merch and match-day tickets. Meeting your mates for a pre-match pint is as much a part of the experience as the game itself. And new research has just revealed where in the country fans will be footing the biggest bill for their drinks this season.
The research in question comes courtesy of credit card provider, Zable, who took it upon themselves to analyse the cost of a pint at pubs near each and every stadium in the Premier League. It’ll like come as no surprise that London dominated the charts – with the five costliest clubs all being found here in the capital city. But which of them boasts the priciest pints of all, I hear you ask? That, my friends, would be Chelsea… of course.

The study showed that Chelsea fans are forking out the most for their pre-match drinks, with the average pint costing £6.94 in pubs near Stamford Brook. Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal all follow closely behind – with the average pint price surpassing the £6 mark near each of these London clubs. Arsenal remains top of the charts when it comes to the most expensive in-stadium pint (£6.80). And over at Coventry Town is where you’ll find the most wallet-friendly pint, with the average pint near the stadium costing just £4.16.
