The cost of being a devoted football fan extends far beyond the match tickets and the merch. Once you arrive at the stadium, it’d be rude not to raise a toast to your team with a nice, cold pint, right? But how does the cost of that pint vary across the Premier League, I hear you ask? Well, the CEO of ticket search engine, SeatPick, has worked out the answer.
Gilad Zilberman scoured the length and breadth of the country in search of the average cost of a pint at each Premier League stadium. Zilberman then collated the findings into a nice handy list, revealing the cheapest, the most expensive, and everything in between. It will come as a surprise to – quite literally – noone that London clubs dominated the top of the list. But only one stadium could top the list, and that, my friends, was Arsenal.
No stranger to being perched at the top of a chart, the average cost of a pint at the Emirates Stadium is £6.80. Whilst perhaps that doesn’t seem like that much upon first glance (or maybe I’ve just lived in London too long and have become completely desensitised) but Zilberman worked out that Arsenal fans who treat themselves to just one pint each game spend an average of £260 on pints throughout the season. On the other end of the list; Liverpool serves up the cheapest pints across the Premier League, with the average setting fans back just £4.80. A relative bargain.
