Calling all dinophiles, budding palaeontologists, and lovers of the natural world – over in King’s Cross, there’s a stunning immersive experience that you won’t want to miss. ‘Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs’ is a jaw-dropping show at the iconic Lightroom venue, which brings the majesty of the natural world to a mighty four-storey-tall viewing experience.
The show traces the impact of the dinosaurs on the world around us over the past 66 million years. But it’s also just a stunning way to see just how small you’d truly be, in comparison to these enormous, historic beasts.
The show originally opened back in the summer of 2025, and was slated to end at the end of the year. But it was such a hit that it’s been extended well beyond its original November closing date. You’ll now find showing dates until as late as September of this year. (And we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets extended again!)
Viewers are dropped into a 360° experience, exploring a world populated by all manner of dinosaurs. Guests can marvel at Ammonites and Mosasaurs, as well as Adaltheriums and the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex. Along the way, the experience explores the breadth of the natural world as a habitat for dinosaurs. You’ll travel across “dangerous deserts, soaring skies and the deep sea.”

Stepping back in time to a Prehistoric Planet
‘Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs’ combines “captivating storytelling, breathtaking visuals and groundbreaking technology”. Inspired by Apple TV+’s Emmy Award-nominated series ‘Prehistoric Planet’, the experience draws from the show and features never-before-seen material. So, even if you’re a fan of the TV show, there’s more to see. Plus, it’s a whole new way to experience it all, surrounded by the action above, below, and on all sides of you.
As you take in the majestic visuals, the whole thing is soundtracked by music from the series. That means the stunning visuals are accompanied by an original score by multiple Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman, and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.
Said Mike Gunton, Executive Producer of Prehistoric Planet and BBC History Unit Creative Director:
“I always imagined Prehistoric Planet as like stepping into a time machine and travelling back to the time when dinosaurs ruled Planet Earth. The Lightroom experience will be just that! There’s nowhere else where you can be surrounded by the most amazing animals to have ever lived – see them all life-size, and really close-up, watch their dramatic lives unfold and understand what life was like 66 Million years ago. For a wildlife film-maker it’s a dream come true!”
Also at Lightroom
The immersive dinosaur show is just one in a roster of shows you can currently see at Lightroom. The venue is also home to a stunning exploration of space travel (narrated by Tom Hanks, no less), and a glorious David Bowie concert experience. This year will also see the venue launching a brand new show, exploring Wallace & Gromit, and other creations by the acclaimed Aardman studio.

So, what do you say? Fancy a journey back in time to walk with the dinosaurs?
