Sure – you’ve almost certainly tried a taco with fish in it. Perhaps it was even breaded. But have you had a full-on chippie taco like the one’s offered up here, mushy peas, properchipshopchips and all?
London fish and chip gurus Poppies are teaming up with new Spitalfields kids on the block for an almighty bueno food link-up. Yes… a fish AND chips taco is coming to London.
Even if you’ve found your new favourite meeting of cuisines, this particular edition might still be fleeting. The Poppies and Taco Taco mashup is only sticking around for two weeks from tomorrow (October 1), so if you dig the mushy peas touching your tortilla, then be sure to hoover up as many as you can within that time frame.
Poppies commented on the linkup, saying: “The Fish and Chip Taco is the marriage of two beloved cuisines and a celebration of lip smacking, hands on, get in my belly greatness.”
You’ll be able to pick up one of these beauties over at Poppies in Spitalfields, with one taco going for £4 and two for £6. Once you’ve ordered your dish that might make some people cry, you’ll be handed your fish and chips taco, which consists of a tortilla slathered in mushy peas, finished with a bed of battered fish and twice-cooked chips to make you question whether you’ve just stepped into a strange combination of Mexico City and London town.
Taco Taco’s co-founder, Damien Aiudi, also spoke on the news, and said: “This collaboration is all about sharing our love for food. Our motto is ‘anything can taco’ and we can’t wait for you to experience the absolute joy of this one!”
