This Brilliant Outdoor Cinema Is Hosting Film Screenings All Over Town This Summer

Alex Landon Alex Landon - Editor

Pop Up Screens

Pop Up Screens are back for another summer of cinema magic, and you’re invited to join them.

Having been confined to one very small part of London during lockdown, it’s no surprise that we’re raring to get out and explore as much of the city as possible this summer. Happily, one of London’s favourite outdoor cinemas has the same plan, as Pop Up Screens are taking their magical movie nights to no fewer than eight lovely London spots this summer. Kicking off their summer season on July 23 – with a screening of cult classic Grease on the Greenwich Peninsula – they’re all set for an unforgettable summer of film, and you can grab tickets to join in here.

From east to west, and from north to south, you won’t be far from a Pop Up Screens event this year. Out west, they’ll be popping up in Ravenscourt Park and Bishop’s Park in Fulham, whilst Coram’s Fields and Guildhall Yard are your central London options.

Pop Up Screens

South of the river, Pop Up Screens can be found in Manor House Gardens near Lewisham, Brockley’s Hilly Fields, Central Park on the Greenwich Peninsula, and Kennington Park. Each location has a truly eclectic line-up of films scheduled, catering for all cinematic tastes.

For instance, outdoor cinema favourites such as Dirty Dancing, A Star Is Born, and The Greatest Showman are screening throughout the summer. If you’re after 80s classics, the likes of Back to the Future, The Goonies, and Ghostbusters will prove to your liking, whilst Oscar-watchers can opt for past winners like Moonlight, Philadelphia, or Jojo Rabbit. Whether you’re into romance (500 Days of Summer, Notting Hill, 10 Things I Hate About You), music biopics (Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody), or escaping predators (Jaws, Jurassic Park), you’ll find it all here.

Each location will have food and drink stalls selling delicious treats (including popcorn, naturally), because a film without snacks is like a day without sunshine. These enchanting film screenings will be filling the summer nights from July 23 until September 26, so all you’ll need to do is grab your tickets, pitch up with a picnic blanket or comfy camping chair, and settle in for a night of films under the stars. Dreamy!
