Placebo have just announced a huge set of UK dates to mark 30 years since the release of their landmark self-titled debut album. The British alternative rock band will play a massive gig at London’s Wembley Arena on December 5, where they will play tracks off the album, as well as its equally seminal follow-up, Without You I’m Nothing.
It also comes alongside news of the release of RE:CREATED, which features reworked versions of the 10 original tracks on their first album, plus two new bonus tracks.
Speaking about RE:CREATED on their Instagram page, Placebo said: “We think of this record as a director’s cut. We haven’t recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record.
“This project was about finally finishing the record, dragging it into the 21st century sonically, while preserving the integrity and the spirit of the original. It’s not about improving it, there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s about completing it.
“It’s a celebration of where we began, and a meeting point between who we were then and who we are now; a way of honoring that innocence, while letting the songs exist with the scale, confidence, and energy of the band we’ve become”.
On the anniversary tour, Placebo will play dates across the UK & Ireland, which include shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, and more.
Placebo last played London in 2024, with a show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, though this is their first extensive UK tour since 2022.
