Death Cab For Cutie have announced a set of UK & Ireland dates for later this year, with Ben Gibbard and co. set to play the London Troxy on Friday, September 25. It comes alongside the band announcing details of I Built You A Tower, their 11th studio album.
On the tour, the indie rock meets emo band will also play dates in the likes of Manchester, Edinburgh, and Bristol, before a string of shows in mainland Europe.
I Built You A Tower is due for release on June 5 and is their first since 2022’s Asphalt Meadows. The new album comes via ANTI, marking their first release outside of Atlantic Records since their seminal fourth record, Transatlanticism.
On a post to their Instagram page, Death Cab For Cuties spoke about I Built You A Tower, saying: “We’re thrilled to announce our eleventh studio album ‘I Built You A Tower’ out June 5 on [ANTI]. ‘I Built You A Tower’ is an album about loss and the ways by which we attempt, ultimately unsuccessfully, to compartmentalize grief.
“We compartmentalize because we need to keep ourselves together to do our jobs, raise our families, etc. But the structures we build within ourselves to hold our grief at bay are only so strong. Eventually, the grief spills over and we are forced to face it. And sometimes it is more than we can bear.”
