Calling all pasta munchers, Christmas celebrators, and sausage fanatics – we’ve caught wind of a downright wild food mash-up that’s sure to appeal to all of you. (Which basically amounts to… everyone in London, right?) One foolhardy Italian restaurant in Soho is setting out to upset and delight in equal measure with a brand new festive special on the menu. They’re smashing together a classic Christmas snack with Italian pasta to bring us a Pigs in Blankets Ragu. And they’re giving it away for free this November!
It’s no secret that here in London, we love Italian food. Our city is absolutely full of authentic Italian eateries and some, perhaps, not-so-authentic offerings. But it’s also no secret that we sometimes like to toy with the parameters of Italian food: carbonara with cream, pizza with pineapple, and so on. Heck, we even had a whole restaurant dedicated to wild, wacky, but also sort of delicious ‘Brit-alian’ mash-ups.
But perhaps nothing anyone in the city has ever come up with has rivalled this new dish for sheer Italian-offending festive ridiculousness. But at its core, it is a disarmingly simple, perhaps even obvious, dish. To make it, the restaurant, 64 Old Compton Street, tops soft handmade potato gnocchi with a slow-cooked ragu made from tomato, red wine, and beef shin. Whole pigs in blankets are then popped on top, before the whole affair is capped with a snowfall of parmesan.
Sounds good? Well, lucky for you, the team at 64 Old Compton Street are giving away 100 portions of the Pigs in Blankets Ragu completely free. And all you have to do is be among the first to turn up on November 25.

64 Old Compton Street will be marking one month until Christmas arrives with a festive pasta giveaway. They’re giving away 100 portions of Pigs in Blankets Ragu on November 25, from 12pm until supplies last.
There are no forms to fill out, but it is first-come, first-served. And they will ask you to follow them on Instagram to claim the free food. But otherwise, if you’re among the first 100 people in line, you’ll get a free pot of Christmassy pasta to chow down on for lunch.
Do note, however, that the free pasta is takeaway only. So you’ll need to find a bench or a perch in a nearby park to enjoy the food. Or you can head back to the office and enjoy lunch at your desk, boastingly asking everyone ‘how much do you think I paid?’
