After Peter Kay’s quiet exit from the limelight back in 2017, the Bolton funnyman is set to return to the stage with the announcement of a stand-up tour, with a monthly residency at the O2 arena. The comedian known for both his stand-up comedy and TV programme Peter Kay’s Car Share, which he wrote and starred in, will be returning to the stage this winter for a nation-wide tour spanning through until August 2023, with O2 dates every month between December 16, 2022 – November 18, 2023.
During an ad break in the series launch of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Peter Kay was seen carrying a rolled-up carpet into a house while confirming to nearby fans he will return to stand-up comedy next month. The satirical video was also published on Peter Kay’s social media accounts announcing the news of the tour, which, kicked off earlier this month.
The dates mark Kay’s first live tour since 2010, when he scored the Guinness World Record for the biggest selling stand-up tour of all time, playing to more than 1.2 million people. The tour will see Peter Kay perform in major cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Dublin, Glasgow, Cardiff and Nottingham. Plus Peter Kay has announced a monthly London residency at The O2 has been added to his national arena tour.
In a statement, the comic said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now. And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
Although Peter Kay has kept a low profile over the years, he notably returned to the stage in August 2021 for two special charity events to raise money for Laura Nuttall, a then 20-year-old with an aggressive type of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme.
The comedian has recently revealed more shows coming to London (totalling 28 gigs) at the O2 arena up until March 2025, which will take place on the following dates:
- 2022: December 16.
- 2023: January 21; February 23; March 22; April 22; May 20; June 3; July 29; August 30; September 9; October 7; November 18; December 16.
- 2024: January 6; February 24; March 23; April 20; May 4; June 2; July 13; August 10; September 7; October 8; November 16; December 5.
- 2025: January 25; February 22; March 20.
