Few things in life hit the spot quite like a cup of joe and snack in the mid-afternoon sweet spot. And, in Brick Lane next week, a pay what you can café is arriving for a limited time to raise money for local homeless charity, Rhythms Of Life.
There are no set prices for any item in the café, and customers are invited to pay whatever they are able to at the vegan, community-led pop-up event. The event has been put together by store-cupboard ingredients specialists Mr Organic, and takes place on November 20-21.
Hungry guests can nosh down on a vast amount of Italian, plant-based bites including: a sharing mezze board that features aubergine dip, grissini breadsticks, sundried tomato hummus and warm focaccia; breaded artichokes; caponata with tomatoes; sourdough bruschetta; arancini, and salame di chocolato and more.
Everything spent will be donated to Rhythms Of Life’s Christmas campaign, and Mr Organic invites everyone down to eat great food at whatever price suits – even if that’s nothing at all – to help the local community. And let’s be honest here: the best way to do that is through food made with care. And coffee. All the coffee.
Mr Organic are partnering with Canvas Café, and you’ll find them over at 42 Hanbury Street, E1 5JL (nearest stations are Aldgate East and Shoreditch High Street). Read more about the event here.
