While we may pine for the days of summer 2012, London will be setting up the next best thing for its big Olympic-watching ways as the games arrive in Paris in just a couple of months. For the 2024 Olympic Games, you’ll notice that a series of fan parks are coming to London, with free spots popping up in the city for fans to catch the Team GB action.
Across the UK, the fan zones will be popping up from July 26 to see the opening ceremony in Paris, and will remain open right up until the close on August 11.
The Olympic Fan Zones in London
Those hoping to catch an event, be it the 100m or the tennis doubles final, can do so across multiple venues—all with big screens—across the capital. In total, there are nine zones in the UK, and three of these are set to open up in London (King’s Cross, Battersea Power Station, and Mayfair).
On top of action on the screens, visitors to the King’s Cross fan zone will be able to enjoy DJ sets across the day in between watching the races, as well as taking on the Olympic-themed activities running beside the stage filled with entertainment all through the summer. Plus, some returning Team GB athletes will be joining fans at King’s Cross for live Q&As.
Speaking on the fan zones, a spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “London is the sporting capital of the world and the mayor is proud and excited to be hosting the UK’s largest Olympic fan zone at King’s Cross this summer. London’s three fan zones are part of an incredible sporting summer for the capital and a key part of our work to build a better London for everyone.”
