If you’re a pastry fiend who has ever ventured up to North London in search of the city’s best baked goods, you’ve likely heard of Astrid Bakery. The super-popular North London spot is housed inside a pretty tiny spot – more a kiosk than a proper shop or bakery – and yet it often demands corner-turning queues. People simply can’t get enough of their viral baked goods. Fortunately, they’ve just opened up a brand-new second location, just down the street, to tackle ever-increasing demand.
The new opening, Astrid Atelier, acts as both a production kitchen (y’know, for actually making the incredible number of pastries they sell) and a retail site (so you can actually buy the goods directly from them). This allows them to sell even more baked goods to even more people. But it also means they can expand their offering.
That’s right, folks. It’s not just a new Astrid location. It’s also the launch of brand new offerings beyond Astrid Bakery’s core pastry range. Renowned already for their croissants and croissant dough pastries, the new site will allow them to expand into “a savoury-led selection including focaccia, pain suisse and filled croissants, as well as a small eat-in offering.”
Astrid Bakery and Atelier
At the centre of the new sister site to Astrid Bakery is “an open kitchen format [with]… a live baking counter”. That means you can purchase super-freshly-baked pastries immediately after watching them being made. Inside, there are seats for up to 20 guests, as well as 12 stools lining the windows looking out onto the street. And, echoing the Astrid Bakery layout, there are tables and chairs on the pavement all year round.
Astrid Atelier will also provide the Astrid team with space for retail products beyond their baked goods, as well as a venue for masterclasses and events. It also allows the team to bring back their popular delivery breakfast boxes.

Among the new items you can expect to find at Astrid Atelier are:
- Heritage Tomato Pain Suisse
- Red Onion & Stilton Focaccia
- twice-baked classic Smoked Ham & Cheddar Croissant
There will also be limited-time Bacon Morning Rolls with Astrid’s own Breakfast Ketchup (on Saturdays only) and Pizza Pop-ups by Astrid Executive Baker Matteo di Russo. Stay tuned for even more “sweet treats in the making – think ice cream sundaes for when the mercury rises …” from both Astrid Bakery and Astrid Atelier.
