Set to drop on Netflix next week, the new documentary film is produced alongside global environmental organisation WWF and is of course narrated by national treasure, Sir David Attenborough.
Telling the story of life on our planet, Attenborough will address the biggest challenges facing life on our planet, sharing first-hand accounts of humanity’s impact on nature. Attenborough has visited every continent on the globe in his 93 years of life, saying in the film “I’ve had the most extraordinary life. It’s only now that I appreciate how extraordinary”.
Attenborough will reflect on his impactful career for the first time ever throughout the film, sharing just some of the devastating changes he’s witnessed in his lifetime, as well as some of the most defining moments. The documentary has been produced in the hopes of sharing a powerful message to future generations, with the aim of inciting action against climate change and nature loss.
Speaking of the project, Colin Butfield, WWF’s Executive Producer for the film, says:
“For decades, David has brought the natural world to the homes of audiences worldwide, but there has never been a more significant moment for him to share his own story and reflections. This film coincides with a monumental year for environmental action as world leaders make critical decisions on nature and climate. It sends a powerful message from the most inspiring and celebrated naturalist of our time.”
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet premieres on Netflix on October 4, but you can catch it beforehand in cinemas across London. Special preview screenings will be taking place in cinemas across town, with the film preceded by a conversation between Sir David and broadcaster and Monty Python alum Sir Michael Palin – find out more and get your tickets here.
